MOMOTARO - BRAZILIAN ADAPTATION
I had the pleasure of doing Ana Matsusakis course on domestika and this is my final project! I wanted to bring a classic japanese folktale "Momotaro" (or Peach Boy) and mix the story with brazilian elements, flora and fauna. In the class version, "Momotaro" emerges from a peach. In my version, he emerges from a guava fruit ;) In this case he'd be Guava boy hahaha Also, the landscape has a more tropical vibe and the colors I chose were based on typical fruits and plants from the amazon region.
For the final project I depicted three different scenes: When the grandmother finds the guava by the river; when "Momotaro" decides to leave home where the grandmother and grandfather are to pursue his adventures and the final one is when he and his 3 friends that he encountered on the way (monkey, bird and dog) go to face the monsters on the island.
I had a lot of fun exploring the different textures and techniques and thinking of the final composition. I really wanted to make the characters a part of the landscape. There are some thing I still need to work on but as a first project I think I've learned a lot!
